Incidentally, my mom Pat was more of a wine drinker, but when she busted out a cocktail she didn’t mess around. I figure my liking rye or a well made Manhattan is hereditary. (One of my powerful memories is of f lost is the Scholastic Art show at the Pru in Boston, two 12-year-olds and an 80+ aunt in tow, the old Top of the Hub restaurant, and a woman who deserved a cocktail. It’s a good story, that’s just the set up.)
